Building an Above Ground Pool Deck

An above ground pool deck is something some people do not give a lot of thought about. They go through planning the above ground pool then realize about the deck. The fact is that in most families there are two types of pool people. The first is the one the spends most of the day in the pool with friends and family and the second are those that most of the time lay around on a towel catching the sun.

This is one of the reasons why most above ground pool installers also install pool decks as well. When planning the deck there are several thing to think about which in the end can save you a lot of money. The first material that people often think about for pool decks is redwood however there are a few drawbacks to having redwood for a pool deck.

Redwood is very expensive, will turn grey in the sun and require a lot of maintenance like applying sealer applications. In addition, redwood holds up best in dry climates. The advantages of redwood are when it is installed properly and maintained properly it looks great as a pool deck. In addition, since it will be used as an above ground pool deck it will be kept dry thus eliminating dry rot issues.

The next most popular selection for an above ground pool deck is Douglas fir. The big issue with Douglas fir is that is has to be painted. No matter what type of material you choose for an above ground pool deck you need to keep the balance between the material being used and the cost of the labor to install it. You need to decide if you are going to have a wrap around deck using cheaper materials or a smaller half deck using the more expensive materials. Either way in the end, you will have a nice looking above ground pool deck.

If you still need more information about an above ground pool deck and the best-priced materials to use, do some research on the internet. It also helps to read reviews on various styles of above ground pool decks and reviews on different types of wood that is used. You may find out in the end that what you thought was the right decision for a deck would have cost you more money when you were trying to save money.
